About This Project

ARTIST: ATIFICIALLY YOURS
RELEASE: THE MERGER EP
FORMAT: DIGITAL / CD / MEMORY STICK
LABEL: 1-2-3-4
DATE: AUGUST 24

The new signing to 1-2-3-4 Records, Artificially Yours release their much anticipated three track EP ‘The Merger’ on August 24.

It all kicks off with ‘The Merger’ itself is an explosive rollercoaster of distortion and fuzz, extra-dimensional space rock sonics and garage punk worthy of the Butthole Surfers at their most insanely psychedelic.

Nextup ‘Terrortown’ continues the themes of small town urban alienation with a machine led, knowing, Sheffield style electro pulse and a laconic vocal with the gravitas of Bowie or Curtis.  ’Tree’ returns to the interstellar garage, shades of MC5 revolutionary angst and a sense of the sprawling controlled chaos that informs their 1-2-3-4 label mates Arrows of Love.

It all kicks off with ‘The Merger’ itself, much like the sleeve art; a sweaty city boy hand is held out to shake and someone scribbles all over it with permanent marker. Kaboom! a rollercoaster of distortion and fuzz explodes, extra-dimensional space rock sonics and garage punk worthy of the Butthole Surfers at their most insanely psychedelic. The Merger is a sermon to the doomed, the listed highlights of the lows bombarding us from all media. Next up ‘Terrortown’ continues the themes of small town urban alienation with a machine led, knowing, Sheffield style electro pulse and a laconic vocal with the gravitas of Bowie or Curtis. ’Tree’ returns to the interstellar garage, shades of MC5 revolutionary angst and a sense of the sprawling controlled chaos that informs their 1-2-3-4 label mates Arrows of Love and Scab Hands.

‘The Merger’ is headed up with a surreal and provocative video, the band present this modern age dystopia, mirroring the fear and paranoia created by those with the most power, permeating and creating a backdrop to our lives. This reality pervades our existence, with a wake-up call. Images are cut together with race riots, military dictators, Warhol and the Manson family, magic mushrooms and mushroom clouds, as lyrics murmur, rupturing the sonic tapestry with their manifesto.

The three piece, nicknamed Chat, Grumb & Ads, formed ‘out of necessity’ somewhere in the soul-crushing anonymity of the commuter belt surrounding London, immediately embarking on their avowed mission to counter and destroy the ‘coffee cup capitulation’ and the pulverising effect of modern capitalism on identikit smalltown high streets and wasteland city centres the length of the nation.

As the band’s own manifesto insists: “the counter culture must prevail.”

“CAPITALISM IS FAILING ALL BUT THE CHOSEN FEW COFFEE CARTON CAPITULATION SUSPENDED IN THE VOID FINDING THE ONLY ROAD TO SELF EXPRESSION IS THROUGH SPONSORED GADGETRY THE ILLUSION OF FREEDOM RELIGION HAS ALWAYS BEEN DIVISIVE AND USELESS INSANE EMPERORS RUNNING THEIR SHOW TO INSANE PURPOSES EVERY IDENTIKIT TOWN AND CITY CENTRE PULVERISED TO ANONYMITY THE ADVERTISED DISEASE LET DRONE KILL DRONE THEY HAVE YOU WHERE THEY WANT YOU DRUGGED, BLOATED AND ON YOUR KNEES AT THEIR ALTAR THE GREAT DARK CONSPIRACY OF NOTHING KEEP THEM AFRAID THIS IS CERTAIN WE STILL HAVE THE POWER AND THE MAGICK AND THE ART DEATH TO RABID CONSUMERISM DEATH TO THE TECHNOLOGICAL STRANGLE THERE IS ANOTHER WAY THE COUNTER CULTURE MUST PREVAIL RISE AGAINST THE SUPERSTORE SWAMP AGAINST AMAZON AGAINST HOMOGENY AGAINST SOCIAL MEDIA AGAINST THE MEDIA AGAINST MOBILE PHONES AGAINST MURDER”
