Beach Riot bring us, Stuck Inside, ahead of their UK tour, 14 – 26 November. The track was produced with Steve Ansell, of Blood Red Shoes at Brighton Electric and is set to impact November 29.
Released digitally and on Limited Edition 7inch Double A Side Vinyl featuring the bands last single ‘Robot’
The four-piece bring a disorderly blend of low-fi drone rock, heavy riffs, indie pop and a gorgeous atmospheric whirring to their own brand of fuzz-pop. The video for ‘Stuck Inside’ captures this essence perfectly, through fuzzy retro-filming, a gloomy landscape of rolling clouds and thunderous skies around Brighton beach. Mosh-pits break-out across dancefloors, while their guitars collide in a psychedelic free fall of fuzz-noise and grunge.
Beach Riot started out at beach bars and parties down on the south coast, with this home-grown feel of scuzz rock. There is a certain urgency and indie melodic fizz to this scuzzed-out sound. While Cami Menditeguy chants, ‘stuck in the inside my mind’, Rory O’Connor responds, ‘I don’t want avarice, I wanna get away from this,’ in a kind of duality of purpose.
Rory explains: “Stuck Inside was inspired by conversations with amazing, empowering women artists and friends we know and love, about how they navigate what is still a hugely male dominated world”
Beach Riot have been together since 2017, ‘Stuck Inside’ builds on previous releases from the bands last single ‘Robot’ released this Summer, and their self-titled EP last year, featuring, ‘Medicate for Success’ and ‘Good To Know (That I’m still on your Mind)’. They’re hotly tipped for 2020, while picking-up interest from: Radio X, BBC Introducing and reaching no.12 in the Amazing Radio chart. They played Reading & Leeds Festival 2018, Truck Festival 2019 and have gained a whole host of coverage from Louder Than War, GigSlutz, When The Horn Blows, The 405, Louder Sound and more.
Beach Riot were born when Cami Menditeguy landed in London from her home country of Argentina. At 18 she decided to re-trench to East London, Cami raised her flight money by gambling on racing horses and met Rory O’Connor at a show in East London – finding a shared love for ice-cream, weird guitars, PJ Harvey, Mudhoney, 4am mozzarella sticks, dark comedy, dungeons and dragons and Brighton beach hangover fry-ups. At last Beach Riot were born and the gamble paid off.
